Pastels Are Perfected

Every year the color masters at Pantone pull
together an elite team from the world’s fashion,
design and retail industries to select the next color
trend. This trend will guide the colors choices you make
for everything you buy in the near future. They always choose
just one color to be the “Color of The Year.” Usually it’s just
one hue, but for 2016 they have picked two shades for twice the
look and twice the fun.

The color experts at Pantone have chosen Rose Quartz, a deliciously
soft pink, and Serenity, a soft, subtle sky blue as the hottest, trendiest
colors for 2016.

Rose Quartz, Pantone color #13-1520, and Serenity, Pantone color #15-3919,
aren’t your every-day pastels. They have a slightly de-saturated sophistication
that makes them highly wearable and flattering. They bring an instantly
fresh attitude to everything from basic black to your favorite jeans.

If you think about it, you are already seeing these delightful shades
everywhere from the fashion industry’s catwalk to high profile
Red Carpet events and they are all over the stores.

I know you are one of those girls who think that pink
and blue are for 3-year olds and not for you. Well,
think again! The next time you go shopping
you will see these on-trend shades used in
new and interesting ways. How about
taking a look at a pale sophisticated
pink wool jacket? Pink in this
winter will really lift your
spirits.

Take a second look at those Serenity blue boots. They should put a little kink in your
winter doldrums.
At last month’s Golden Globes Rose Quartz and Serenity were all over the Red
Carpet. January Jones wore an amazing soufflé of a gown in head to toe
Serenity. While the “Fashion Police” where mixed on the style of the
gown itself, they all agreed that the shade of blue was perfection.
At the same event Brooklyn star, Saoirse Ronan looked sleek
and polished in a column dress of Rose Quartz. Dazzling!

Accessories are the easiest way to test this trend.
Hand bags, jewelry and scarves are just waiting out
there for you to try out these new shades. Pink
ballet flats will give your favorite skinny
jeans a lift. Scarves mix the two hues
together so you don’t have to pick
between them. You will find that
these shades next to your face
make you look prettier and
younger.

Lift up your perfectly pink
manicure with a little touch of
Serenity. Try painting your ring
fingers and pinkies blue while leaving
the rest pink. Fun!

Still a little reticent about taking the shades out
for a test drive in public. There is always Curvy
Couture! Ever on trend, Curvy has some delightfully
sexy offerings in these two perfect shades. Take a look at
the Love Affair Balconette and panties for a luscious shade of
pink. For blue try the Silver Lagoon hipster and underwire bra.
Both styles are on trend and perfect on you.

Sometimes the Pantone Color of the Year takes a major leap of faith to wear. It
can definitely take you way out of your comfort zone. (I am thinking about
Tangerine Tango from a couple of years ago). But this year’s colors are completely
wearable and flattering no matter what your age. Pantone selected sophisticated variations
of pink and blue that are flattering and youthful without taking you back to kindergarten.
These colors do amazing things for your complexion and attitude. Besides it’s always great
to look at something with a fresh attitude. Pantone’s Rose Quartz and Serenity, THE on
trend colors for 2016 have plenty of attitude.
