As the first month of 2019 comes to a close, it is also an important time to look back on all that was accomplished at Curvy Couture in 2018. During the past year, Curvy Couture has seen a change in women's attitudes, types of plus size fashion media coverage, and recognition by stores to expand size ranges and offer beautiful lingerie that empowers. Here's a quick look at some of our favorite moments:
#1 Hit the cover of Cosmopolitan UK
We love Tess Holiday and she loves Curvy Couture. It's an amazing thrill to be requested for a cover shoot and then make the cut in the October issue. Who would have ever thought that a plus size model would make the cover of a magazine so well known for a certain type of size model? On the interior pages you can see more clearly that Tess is wearing the Tulip Lace Push Up and Tulip Panty.
#2 Launched our first co-branded campaign with Soma
As you may have heard about in recent press or on our blog, we launched our first co-branded campaign with Soma. The launch came about because Soma recognized a need to serve women with a more extensive size range. The launch includes the Curvy Couture for Soma Lace and Lift Push Up Bra which features underwire, balconette cups with graduated push up pads and stay put adjustable straps. It also included a second style, Curvy Couture for Soma Glamour Unlined Bra, which is perfect for those seeking fashion, comfort and support. Both styles are available in sizes 36D-42G.
#3 Sold out on HSN
We've all done it. Your flipping through the channels, land on HSN and cannot stop watching! Then you start to desire every product being shown. Recently Curvy Couture, represented by Evora Russell, met with HSN host Colleen Lopez to chat about the brand. We were super excited that it was a sold out showing! Shoppers had access to our best selling styles including: Tulip Lace Push-Up bra and the Cotton Luxe Unlined Wire-Free bra.
#4 Supported women’s causes like iDontNeedTwo and Sister to Sisters
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this year we wanted to offer our support in a meaningful way that also reflected who we are. It was amazing to work with Melissa Jansen from I Don't Need Two. We were in awe of her bravery and confidence. Our very own Janet Jack put together an enthusiastic Curvy Couture team for the Sister 2 Sister Run/Walk which took place in Dallas. We'd say these efforts were small in size but mighty in impact, recognizing those who are making a difference in their communities.
#5 Curvy Couture Launched Skin Tone Colors
Social media is a powerful tool, especially when it comes to hearing what our followers want. In 2018 ladies wanted more skin tone colors and we listened!
Taupe and Chocolat Nude now are proudly offered in addition to the popular Bombshell Nude and Natural.
#6 Dora was recognized for breaking boundaries by Medium Authority Magazine
As a curvy teen growing up in Hong Kong, Dora Lau understood how underserved curvy women are in our society. It was her dream to create beautiful lingerie that gave confidence. "Confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can wear," she is famous for saying. Curvy Couture was born from this dream and the impact it has had on the marketplace was recognized in Medium Authority Magazine in a series that looks at "Female Disruptors" and "Women Who Are Breaking Boundaries".
#7 We did our first body diversity shoot!
Our mission is to uplift all women in both body and mind, celebrate her uniqueness, and inspires her to embrace her best self. We are a women owned and operated company and we believe in making bras for #EveryKindofCurvy. We were inspired by the women that believe in us and who have been brave and powerful in their voice to spread the powerful words of Body Diversity.
#8 We listened...and now we want to listen some more.
