Curvy Girl January: Linda Weinrib

This month Curvy Couture recognizes Linda Weinrib as Curvy Girl January. Linda was born and raised in Hollywood CA. Inspired and motivated by her parents, Linda went on to pursue careers in acting, business, and modeling. At the age of 5, she embarked on a journey that would define who she is today. Guided by her father, a successful character/voice actor and her mother, a thriving business woman, Linda began her acting career on the Danny Kaye Show. “I have always been a curvy girl. My mother wanted me to become cultured and feel better about myself so she enrolled me in Ballet, Tap Dancing, Piano, and Acting Lessons.” Growing up as a curvy girl, Linda always felt different. Frustrated by the lack of opportunities in the entertainment field, she decided to create her own destiny. “My mother taught me to love myself and accept who I am so I decided, in college to pursue an acting degree in theater at UCLA.” While studying for her degree, Linda started her own business as a confectioner. “Being creative has always helped my self esteem and with my candy business called Chocolates By Linda, I started selling my hand molded chocolates to Leir and Spelling in Beverly Hills.” Within a few years, Chocolates By Linda had branched out selling into eight different stores.

BEAUTY COMES IN ALL SIZES AND I'VE ALWAYS STRIVEN FOR THAT IN EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE

In 2007, during an attempt to broaden her horizons, Linda Weinrib entered the Miss Top Plus Size Modeling competition. Proving victorious, she was awarded Miss All Around Top Plus Size Model. Following the competition, Linda modeled in a number of fashion shows for local business such as Abundance in Sherman Oaks. “I have continued to pursue my acting career and I've always stayed focused on doing roles that my plus sized peers would be proud of, that would be inspiring, positive, fashionable, intelligent, and continue to promote acceptance in the entertainment field. Beauty comes in all sizes and I've always striven for that in everything I have done, from being a mom to being a business woman, to being an actress.” Linda has appeared twice in the past few months on a web series called Go Curvy. She is eagerly anticipating a new segment of the show demonstrating her candy making techniques. Linda has also worked with major sitcoms, appearing in shows such as The Office, Malcolm in The Middle, the Bernie Mac Show, The Birthday Boys, and Real Rob. Through her determination, her career has also provided her with the opportunity to follow in her father’s footsteps as a voice actor. Linda has done voice acting in Japanese Anime, various video and pc games, commercials, and a number of museum exhibits. “My motto is…Beauty comes in all sizes, we need to love ourselves and embrace who we are, and to encourage young women who are all unique and different...that is what makes the world go around.
