Flower Power Takes On A Whole New Meaning!

I know it might not seem like it in some places of the USA, but spring is almost here! Growing up in the Northeast, winter always feels like it lasts forever; a long slog of snow and cold. But knowing that spring will be along before I know it is always the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s the time of year when that light is, literally and figuratively, getting closer and closer! I’m looking forward to going into March like a lion and coming out like a (fashionable!) lamb. I say fashionable because spring is such an exciting time to try out new fashions. Just like the grey skies and dirty snow fade away to make room for beautiful flowers, green trees, and warmer temperatures, winter fashions disappear to make way for the newest trends. We shed our layers of heavy sweaters and fluffy fleeces to embrace the lighter, brighter spring style options. And this spring I’m totally into florals. I’m already scouring the internet and stocking up on floral pieces to add to my wardrobe, so I’m going to share what I think are some of the best ways to add florals to your wardrobe this spring. MAKE IT CERTAIN YOU WILL STAND OUT
IN A CROWD IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE
When most of us think of spring florals I think we conjure the image of the classic floral dress. And depending on who you are this might not stir the most fashion-forward image in your mind (AKA you might immediately think about your grandmother’s sofa or the great-grandmothers at church). But today’s floral dresses and garments are totally updated with modern color palettes, stylish patterning, and flattering cuts. And whether you want them cute and flirty or edged-out and funky there’s definitely a way to incorporate florals into your wardrobe this coming spring. The first thing on my list is a bright skirt or dress with floral accents. I’m talking BRIGHT as in yellow or robin’s egg blue. A floral A-line skirt or dress can make it certain you will stand out in a crowd in the best way possible. If you’re looking to be a little more edgy with the print this spring, try wearing your florals with leather or a contrasting print to really shake things up. For example, I plan on wearing my bright flowery skirt with my favorite black combat boots. Despite my own (slightly eccentric) tastes, a more demure navy or cream skirt with a flowery print will look just as fabulous. Maybe you’re not a fan of skirts though, not everyone is. In that case a cotton or sheer floral top paired with a light sweater might be a better pick. And never forget: a light and airy floral print scarf can make any casual outfit pop. While all-over print may tickle some people’s fancy, flowery accents are just as attractive and trendy. Wearing the pattern in unexpected places like a pair of sneakers or a headband (contrary to what some people might think, one is *never* too old to wear a headband) is a less-intense way to add some flowery fun to your wardrobe. And if wearing florals on the outside is just a little too loud for your personal tastes, you can still be in style with some of Curvy Couture’s floral panties like the Love Affair, French Floral, or Pearl Lotus Hispters. So what do you think of florals? Love ‘em? Hate ‘em? Tell us in the comments below!
