Month of the Women

We hosted our first-ever model search and the response was overwhelmingly beautiful (and quickly made us realize that we need to do another!) The inspiration behind the search was to capture 4 women who represent #EveryKindofCurvy in their own unique way. We are celebrating Month of the Women through the eyes of the curvy community! Get to know them.

I'm so honored to have been chosen to model this line! I’ve been a fan and follower for sometime because it was one of the only Intimates line that was modeling real life women. The way that Curvy Couture showcases and champions women from all walks of life really made me feel empowered in my own skin.

I went from not wanting to see myself in the mirror to walking around the house in just some lace panties! Over the last few years, women like Hunter McGrady and lines like Curvy Couture have really healed a lot of the damage our size 2 obsessed society has made, and I’m here for it. All. Day. Long. Here’s to curves and bumps and supporting women in more ways than one. ;)

Q: Favorite Bra? I love the Lace Shine bra so so much! The bra stays put all day, and I mean ALL day. The straps don’t fall off my shoulders which so many other bras do, and the satin material makes it invisible under all my clothes.

Stephanie: @lovetheprosas "ACCIDENTAL INFLUENCER ON A MISSION TO INSPIRE, ENCOURAGE, & EMPOWER EVERYONE AROUND HER"

It was a long road to body acceptance for me, especially after becoming a mother. But though some hard work and self reflection, I’m finally at a place where I truly feel comfortable in my skin. I don’t remember a particular day, but so many things helped me get there: public figures, fellow bloggers and brands that are more inclusive!

Q: What was your relationship with bras before Curvy Couture? My relationship with bras before Curvy Couture was complicated! I either loved the comfort and hated the style or vice versa. With CC I can have both!

Q: Favorite Bra? I’m obsessed with the Cotton Underwire because it’s so comfy & it’s an everyday bra! It keeps my girls in place, and doesn’t feel constricting.

Dez: @diezavel "KINDNESS + SELF LOVE PROMOTER. VIDEO EDITOR AT THE EDIT HAUS & STARRR STUDIOS"

Q: What was your relationship with bras before Curvy Couture? Honestly, I never really wore them. I never found any that comfortable besides sports bras.

I have never been confident shopping for bras because they have always been too small or the wrong size on me. Once I tried on Curvy Couture it changed everything!

Q: Do you remember the day you felt completely comfortable in your skin? It comes and goes actually! That isn’t a bad thing though. I love the process of finding new ways to love my body. It is just getting better as I grow and learn about it.

Jenny: @jennyrieu "MODEL, ACTRESS & PARISIAN IN LOS ANGELES"

Q: Do you remember the day you felt completely comfortable in your skin? I remember the day that I felt comfortable in my own skin . I was diagnosed with fibroids in 2013 and went through heavy hormonal treatments that really threw my body out of the wack. I didn’t really recognize myself in the mirror, my body gradually changed. Internally everything felt out of balance and it started to affect me emotionally.

At that time I was modeling and I began doing more lingerie shoots. It felt very healing. They were empowering and allowed me to celebrate my new curvier body. Wearing beautiful bras became therapeutic; it was a fun way to feel connected to myself again.

It’s important to have diversity in the media as I know it may help other women find their confidence. That’s why being a part of this Curvy Couture Campaign and the CC community at large truly is an honor and it definitely feels personal.

Q: Favorite Bra? The Tulip was the first bra that I tried on from Curvy Couture Intimates. I love the Tulip in Black as it is the perfect everyday bra with its matching high waist panties and I know that wearing it will feel comfortable and sexy at the same time.

I am just still waiting to be informed of the next search. I am not what I consider model material but it would be so awesome to feel totally beautiful and fun in front of the camera just for 1 day, to feel confident enough to “just be”…. mind blowing! Anyhoo, still waiting

I would LOVE to be eligible for your next Model Search of 2020!!
#EveryKindofCury

I am 5’8 and currently weigh 225 pounds.
I have dark brown hair, hazel eyes, light-medium skin with neutral and yellow undertones. I am considered Caucasian, but my father, is from Germany and Ireland and my mother, is from Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia.

Growing up my culture was a vivid combination of home spoken Czechoslovakian language and Yiddish. Also, Grand Ballroom Dancing (which my mother did professionally world-wide) with a huge focus on family values and fields directly related to healthcare!

My mother, Suzanne, studied as a radiology nurse, under a prominent Cardiovascular Surgeon, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach California. My father, John, studied at Pomona College and became a Doctor of Chiropractic. He went on to open a low-cost clinic in Downtown Los Angeles in the early to mid 1990’s. Sadly, in 1994 his office building was burned down during the Los Angeles Riots.

Yet, I had also caught the healthcare bug!! Starting at age 19 and for the past 21 years I have been a Certified Master In-Home Healthcare Provider. Currently, I am an; EMT II (Certified Emergency Medical Technician), CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), COTA (Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant), PTA (Physical Therapist Assistant), MDCG- Master Dementia Caregiver, CDALZD-Certified Dementia/ Alzheimer’s Disease SPECIALIST and Memory Care Direct Care Supervisor.

Certifications in First Responder CPR/AED/First Aid, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), Blood Bourne Pathogens, WOUND; PREVENTION, DIAGNOSIS, STAGES AND TREATMENT.

Additionally, I have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Kinesiology, a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration focusing on Patient Advocacy, more than 90 Advanced Education Course Certifications, Education from John’s Hopkins University and Specialty Recognition in the fields of Cardiac Care, Stroke Recovery, Dementia Stages I-IV, Alzheimer’s Disease, Diabetic Neuropathy and Renal Failure, Neurological Disorders and many more health issues requiring on going constant care.

My daily life is also a health crisis, with every single day presenting anywhere from mild, moderate to severe struggles.
I suffer from three serious conditions; Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis and as a result I have been 90% plus blind in my left eye since 2012. Soon after my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis, I began having uncontrollable Gran Mal and Tonic-Clonic Seizures. Within weeks I was dual-diagnosed with Adult Epilepsy and an autoimmune disorder.

Prior to these diagnosis’ in 2001, when I was 21 years old, I was diagnosed with Stage 3A Ovarian Cancer that had metastasized to my lymphatic system. I battled cancer, four surgeries, three rounds of Chemotherapy and 6 rounds of Centralized Radiation until I was 25 years old.

But, despite all of my health scares, I KNOW I am a FIGHTER!!! I still strive everyday to live my life to the fullest. I have learned, from being in Surgical Menopause at age 21, to LOVE MY BODY FOR HOW STRONG IT IS…AFTER ALL IT HAS BEEN THROUGH! SO WHAT IF I HAVE 20 PLUS EXTRA POUNDS?!
MY BODY IS BEAUTIFUL!
MY BODY IS STRONG!
IT IS A MEDICAL MARVEL!!
IT IS EXCEPTIONAL!
IT CAN DO AMAZING…EXTROIDINARY THINGS!!!
EVERY INCH OF MY BODY IS BEAUTIFUL, EVERY SCAR TELLS A STORY, EVERY STRETCH MARK…A WELL EARNED MILESTONE!
